The Chemo Ate My Homework
Many people all over the United States - even the world - know about St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. However, University of Memphis professor and veteran filmmaker Craig Leake, has filmed a documentary showing a less-publicized side of St. Jude.
In the film, Leake explores the relationship between teachers and the young patients at St. Jude. Leake said the inspiration for the film came from a friend who taught at the hospital. Leake said he wanted to showcase the schoolteachers who give a sense of normality, even when faced with terrible diseases and the treatments such as surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy, as well as the life lessons that the teachers taught their students.
